Indiana Family Reunion

We went to Indiana this weekend-Abe Martin State Park to be more specific and enjoyed seeing all of Nana's extended family.
The girls LOVED the indoor water park and we enjoyed the LONG hike we were able to take the girls on Saturday morning. Lauren did get pretty sick on the trip(sadly) but I know they are both looking forward to the next reunion.

Lauren headed to the slide(again)

Dinner with the whole family

Kate felt great and had a ball!

Lauren was pretty sick most of the trip but Ella was waiting to take care of her once we got home.

Summer with the girls

Summer is fun with two girls who are able to go anywhere without a stroller, diapers, pacy, in tow-thinking this is the first summer since Kate was born that we don't need extra "equipment"-yay!

Most of the summer they will be in a camp or traveling. So far we have done VBS (they LOVED it-still listening to all the songs on a daily basis!), Dallas(they stayed with Nana Bieboo while we went to Playa del Carmen for a week), and Houston(to visit Granny, Aunt Betsy, Sarah and Rebecca-girls are still asking me when they can drive "over to Granny's house"! We made that trip EVEN THOUGH the DVD player went out 15 minutes into the trip...sure do have chatty girls!).

Kate is currently in a Reading Camp-getting all the basics down before she starts Kindergarten in the fall. Her sister spends the morning with me-everyday she asks if we are going to the mall(she is 4 going on 16).

What is funny about our trips to the mall is what she wants to do once we get there. I try to get her into Gymboree or Gap Kids but she prefers going to stores with my clothes. She begs me to "try on" things-not sure it she wants to see me in different clothes or spend some quality time with those dressing room mirrors??!?).

Summer is full of birthday parties too-so many share July birthday's with Kate. Usually it is a great break to the routine and who doesn't love a party of 4-6 year olds?
Girls were SO excited to go to Reese's birthday party where all the girls got to dress as princesses.

We also tried to take some professional family pictures-the one taken in the car with my phone turned out the best....

And of course we cook-usually sweet things (or at times ready made pop in the oven cinnamon rolls) but it is still fun to have us all in the kitchen(and out of the HEAT!)

And at the end of the day, they usually are so worn out that they fall asleep wherever they are-even if it happens to be right next to their best friend.

Happy Birthday Kate

Imagine if someone had told me six years ago "See that little thing in the warming bed-hooked up to all those tubes and machines-the one that looks like a baby squirrel? In six years she is going to be a beautiful tall girl that will talk a mile a minute. She will be sensitive loving and best friend to her little sister. You will not be able to keep up with her and you will have to tell people how early she came(because from the outside she hasn't missed a beat).' I would not have believed them...but that is what she became.
We celebrated six years with Queenie and Grandad, Eagle and Aunt Funny, Sam and Uncle B on her birthday Monday night(little known fact-Kate was born on a Monday six years ago-maybe that is why this year has been the toughest for me to put my head around).

Opening presents(sister is always at the ready to help)

Thanks Uncle B & Sam-a set of LOUD instruments

This picture looks very innocent but looks can be deceiving-Kate has just opened her Ipod Touch and immediately put it aside to focus on the balloon launcher Aunt Funny and Eagle gave her.
Lauren is opening HER Ipod and we get a little more excited reaction-still the balloon launcher(I think from the dollar bin) was the biggest hit of all....next year she gets a large cardboard box

The Bubble machine ALSO took precedence over her new "phone"

Never let your guard down at the Wood House-water guns are always lurking....

Happy Birthday sweet girl!
